Bietigheim-Bissingen. A traffic accident occurred in the Laiern industrial area in Bietigheim on Friday at around 1 p.m., in which a 22-year-old cyclist sustained serious injuries. According to the police report, he was heading towards Industriestrasse and wanted to cross it at a pedestrian crossing. Without getting off the car and apparently without reducing his speed, he crashed into the driver’s side of a Ford Fiesta, the 51-year-old driver of which was passing the crosswalk at the time.
While the woman was slightly injured in the face, the cyclist had to be hospitalized seriously injured. The police said he wasn’t wearing a helmet in the accident. The total damage to the vehicles is estimated at around 1000 euros. Since the cyclist was suspected of being under the effects of intoxicating substances, blood was drawn from him. (red)
