Cyclists, pedestrians and motorists in Eure-et-Loir: give your opinion and participate in the barometer of cycling towns

In 2017 and 2019, users of the cities of Chartres and Dreux gave their feelings on the practice of cycling in the city, during the first two editions of “Parlons Vélo”, a participatory barometer of cycling towns that identifies the perception of cycling. welcome of the cycle in the city and the expectations of those who have chosen it as a means of transport.

For its third edition, the cycle city barometer offers cyclists, pedestrians and motorists the opportunity to participate in the largest citizen survey in the world on cycling, by evaluating the cyclability of their municipality.

Are you moving there safely? Can you park your bike with confidence? This online questionnaire offers you to answer these questions and many others, until November 30, on your feelings as a user.

Where can we find this questionnaire?

“This questionnaire can be found on the Parlons Vélo website, a platform initiated by the FUB, the federation of bicycle users. Through 26 questions, users, whether cyclists, pedestrians or motorists, assess the cyclability of their municipality. », Explains Jackie Ceindrial, president of the ChartràVelo association.

What is the goal ?

The FUB brings together 500 associations and wants develop the practice of cycling in cities, in safety and respecting the “Living together with other road users. “ Every two years, it sets up a questionnaire in order to see possible areas for improvement.

“Proposals for Chartres Métropole”

“It’s not always easy to get people to accept the practice of cycling,” adds Jackie Ceindrial.

“Obviously, we can’t always create cycle paths. Motorists and cyclists must learn to share the road. “

Jackie Ceindral (president of the Chartràvélo association)

To do this, the FUB synthesizes the responses given and sends them back to Chartrà Vélo and other associations, “between March and February. “Chartrà Vélo then uses this feedback to” make proposals to Chartres Métropole during our meetings. For example, we proposed to lower the speed of cars to 30 km / h, in the city center of Chartres. This measure has been accepted and makes it possible to make cycling safer. It also involves the redevelopment of certain streets, such as that of Bourgneuf, which is now one-way. “

I participate. The cyclable cities barometer questionnaire is online until November 30 on the website parlons-velo.fr.

A barometer for pedestrians

At the level of the Chartres agglomeration, “between 150 and 160 people have already answered the questionnaire. This figure had already been reached at this time of the year, two years ago. So this is positive. It is for this reason that the FUB launched the pedestrian barometer this year, ”says Jackie Ceindrial.

The results of the first edition, unveiled on Tuesday, September 7, are available on the website placeauxpietons.fr.
