At Breden Els in Balen, a fatal collision occurred around 6 pm on Sunday evening. After a car hit a cyclist, the driver continued without stopping. The victim died on the spot.

There are still a lot of uncertainties about the circumstances of the collision, because there are no witnesses to the facts. The accident happened on a strip in the green, just in front of the buildings. Neighbors say they heard a bang, but when they went to have a look, there was no car to be seen. The blow must have been severe, because the fragments of the two-wheeler were spread over dozens of meters, the bicycle had been thrown into a meadow.
Emergency services tried to resuscitate the victim, but the man died on the spot. The man himself would live not far from the crash site.
The car, presumably a BMW, continued in the direction of Balen center. The driver is traced.
