The Zurich Cycling and Para-Cycling Road World Championships will continue as planned. The fear for the young Swiss woman Muriel Furrer, who fell badly, remains.

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), Swiss Cycling and the local organizing committee have agreed to continue the event. Sticking to the program also takes place after consultation with and in the interests of Muriel Furrer’s family. The relatives of those seriously injured want the World Championships to continue as planned.

Muriel Furrer’s health remains very critical. The UCI, Swiss Cycling and the local organizing committee remain extremely concerned.

The 18-year-old from Zurich fell badly in the junior women’s road race on Thursday. She suffered a traumatic brain injury. The responsible authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the accident. Further explanations will follow at a later date.
