Cycling – Track Worlds: team money for Florian Grengbo and Clara Copponi

While waiting for the SQY velodrome next year, it is that of Roubaix which hosted the 2021 edition of the world championships, from October 20 to 24. Among the 16 members of the French delegation, were two riders from the VCESQY-team Voussert, Florian Grengbo and Clara Copponi.

The first city was again aligned with Rayan Helal and Sébastien Vigier in team speed, as at the Tokyo Olympics, where they won bronze. And this time the three young trackers did even better by going to collect the money. Waiting for gold at SQY in a year, or in three for the Paris 2024 Games? This will require dislodging the formidable Dutch, still winners of the event in Roubaix.

Clara Copponi also got the silver with Marie Le Net on the American race. Also in contention in individual, in omnium, the Frenchwoman finished at the foot of the podium. France finished 4th nation in these Worlds with six medals, including two in gold. “After the only two bronze medals at the Tokyo Olympics, the French team showed a more attractive face at the Roubaix Worlds”, writes L’Équipe.
