Cycling. Road – BMC bikes and the AG2R team… the story is over!

After Groupama-FDJ, Lotto Dstny or TotalEnergiesit is another major team in the peloton which will change equipment supplier in 2024. In fact, via a press release, the bicycle brand BMC and the team AG2R Citroen (which will become AG2R Décathlon in 2024) have announced that they are ending their partnership. After three years of collaboration (2021-2023) with the American brand, the French team will therefore be riding new bikes next season. Arrival in 2021 with its headliner Greg Van Avermaet, BMC therefore withdraws at the same time as the Belgian, who has just retired. “Working with AG2R provided us with direct and ongoing feedback from riders, which was fundamental to meeting the needs of riders at the highest level of competition and providing them with bikes to enable them to win”said David Zurcherdirector of BMC Group.

Which bikes for 2024?

During these three years, the training AG2R Citroen has accumulated 32 victories, including 6 on the Grand Tours, and numerous places of honor. “We would like to thank BMC for these three years of collaboration, during which the team was able to ride very high-level bikes and which gave great satisfaction to the riders and technicians, both in terms of equipment and of human resources”explain Vincent Lavenugeneral director ofAG2R Citroen. “We were very proud to ride for this prestigious, world-renowned brand.”

With the end of this partnership, the French team must therefore find an equipment supplier. For the moment, nothing has been announced, but with the more than likely arrival of decathlon as co-sponsor, AG2R could well evolve on bicycles Van Rysel (brand belonging to the group decathlon). News should come during the team presentation, which will take place on Monday, November 27.
