BRATISLAVA. As a young man, he was one of the great hopes. He won the European Under-23 title and won the smaller Handzame Classic.
In recent seasons, however, Erik Baška has not achieved the results he would be satisfied with. In addition, health problems have been added to the unconvincing performance.
After five seasons in the Bora-Hansgrohe team, he had to look for a new team. And while the Sagan brothers continue on the French procontinental team TotalEnergies, Baška did not receive an offer from this team.
The goals are the same as before

From several offers, he chose the opportunity to continue in Dukla Banská Bystrica.
“I have communicated with several teams, also from abroad. I chose Dukla for several reasons. After talks with Martin Fraň and previously Maroš Kováč, we agreed on our ideas about my direction.
They overlapped very well with my ambitions in cycling and the possibilities of the team, “said Erik Baška in the press release of the Slovak team.

“There were several factors that I chose for Dukla. Firstly for the program, the environment, more race days for me, and also to have more space in the position of a leader. I believe in mutual benefit for both parties.
For the past two years, I have been plagued by health problems, as well as few opportunities in Bor. I got to the position of assistant earlier. And so the goals for the next season are the same as ever, to start winning the race again, “added Baška.

Kubis continues in Dukla
Baška returns to Dukla after eight years. He started his senior career in this team and won his first victories.
“Erik had several options, so we are very happy that he is coming to us. Our conversations were very correct, I feel very good about it.
In my opinion, he is one of the fastest cyclists in the world, he just needs to get a chance to sprint and the trust he will get with us. I see great motivation and commitment on it.
I believe in a similar career reversal as in the case of Cavendish this season, “said Martin Fraňo, the sports director of Dukla Banská Bystrica. According to him, Baška is in a position to return to the team from the elite WorldTour category.

Lukáš Kubiš, 21, who achieved the best results from Dukla riders last season, will also continue in Dukla Banská Bystrica.
At the prestigious Tour de l’Avenir, he won 5th place in the stage, started at the Tokyo Olympics and won the Chantal Biya Grand Prix.
