Bandaged over most of his body and with the appearance of a mummy, Alberto Contador posted a video on social media to explain the reasons for the operation and reassure fans about his state of health.

The double winner of the Tour de France (2007, 2009) went to the operating table to have benign spheres of fat removed between his skin and muscles.
Retired as of 2017, “El Pistolero” indicated that “it was time to have surgery. I needed to have my lipomas removed and it turned out I had over 100!”

While he celebrated his 40th birthday on December 6, the man who won 7 major tours (the Vuelta in 2008, 2012 and 2014, the Giro in 2008 and 2015, the Tour de France in 2007 and 2009) will not return to a bicycle “for a while”.
