Cyberpunk 2077 was the biggest release in history on PC, it sold 8 million copies between PC and consoles

Cyberpunk 2077 it was released last night and is without a doubt the topic of the week. As we informed you today, the CD Projekt title surpassed one million simultaneous players on Steam alone, and thanks to the new data provided by the studio, we can now know the reason for these incredible numbers.

The account of Twitter Investor Relations Officer at CD Projekt, shared some very interesting facts about the launch of Cyberpunk, revealing that the title sold 8 million copies in advance.

Furthermore, it was reported that of those eight million units, 59% were sold on PC (Steam, Epic, and GoG), while the rest were sold to console gamers.

In this way, and doing some accounts, we see that Cyberpunk 2077 is effectively the biggest release in PC history. This week, Blizzard boasted of this feat with its WoW: Shadowlands expansion, stating that its game had sold over 3.7 million units on the day of its release. However, 59% of the 8 million is equivalent to 4.72 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077 sold on PC, even before its launch, breaking Blizzard’s record by more than one million sales.

In other data shared by the company, the game also sold 74% of its copies through digital stores. This is further enhanced if we consider that the pandemic makes it difficult to access a physical copy and that some consoles such as the PlayStation 5 come in completely digital editions. In any case, the game is available for sale on all platforms and stores, although if they are from Argentina it may be convenient for them to purchase it at Steam, where we have regional prices.

Are they part of the Cyberpunk 2077 record? What did you think of the game so far?
