Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Expansion Breakdown and Keanu Reeves Interview

This year’s non-E3 is still in full swing, as evidenced by the Xbox Games Extended Showcase event. She offered us right at the beginning sympathetic look at the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077through which we Paul Sasko from CD Projekt RED introduced the black market in Dogtown, the setting of the upcoming paid expansion and the previously unseen part of Night City.

During the development of Phantom Liberty, the creators tried to make the world of Cyberpunk 2077 even more alive, interesting and believable, so we are waiting for a whole series of small details, secrets or easter eggs. A visit to the black market definitely suggests that this goal has been achieved. But the main thing is what can be obtained in this location – illegal weapons, custom cyberware and obviously things that you can’t find anywhere else.

Which is fitting because expansion aims to push the limit at which you turn into a cyberpsych after installing too much cyberware. The new system will allow you to experience more powerful, but at the same time more dangerous cyberware, offering the ability to see enemies through walls, perform sideways maneuvers in the air or change form to escape the attention of representatives of law and order.

The local version of law and order is mainly enforced by the Barghest militia, led by Kurt Hansen, the ruler of Dogtown itself. But of course the Night City Police Department didn’t go away and in Sask’s words, the police system should have been completely overhauled to make it more dynamic, more believable, and overall more interesting and diverse. It was about time.

Because marketing always demands the best, a demonstration of the black market in Dogtown was accompanied by an interview with actor Keanu Reeves, starring Johnny Silverhand. Reeves emphasized the dark nature of Dogtown, the fact that Kurt Henson is seriously not a slob, or a certain degree of resemblance between Johnny and Agent Solomon Reed, who was also played by the popular actor Idris Elba. But the truth is that whatever the movie John Wick is talking about, we’re just fine with it. It doesn’t matter if you understand what Keanu Reeves is saying or not, either way, it’s seriously hard to ignore his enthusiasm for the character of the charismatic rocker.

If that wasn’t enough for you, you can listen to the recently released breakdown of the full trailer. Just prepare for that the developers reveal more details about the story here and that official the Czech video subtitles were probably translated by an artificial intelligence, because it has an incredible amount of errors. But otherwise Phantom Liberty looks really good.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is coming out September 26/September 2023 in the version for PC (GOG.com, Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and will release you on 29,99 eur. The expansion will of course be equipped with Czech subtitles.
