In connection with Nvidia’s presentation of the Geforce RTX 4000 series in September, the new version of Deep Learning Super Sampling, DLSS, was presented. Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the titles that the new version of the upscaling technology was demonstrated with, and it offered a decent FPS increase in both 1440p and 4K resolution with ray tracing enabled. As with Cyberpunk 2077, refining the technology has taken time and the developers have now released an update that enables DLSS 3 in the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a relatively demanding game and with the maximum ray tracing setting in 4K even the market’s most powerful graphics card. With DLSS 3, with frame generationtechnology, the pressure is relieved thanks to AI-generated frames that increase the number of frames per second by up to 50 percent.
This is not the only update that developers CD Projekt RED has coming to Cyberpunk 2077. It is speculated that the DLSS 3 update prepares the game for the upcoming Overdrive mode, which turns up the quality of ray tracing even more by rendering reflections in full resolution, among other things for increased realistic lighting. Specifically when this update will be released is currently unknown.
