Cyberpunk 2077 fans anticipate big update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty content expansion in just 2 weeks, plus important CPU performance recommendations

Cyberpunk 2077 fans will get the big update 2.0 and the Phantom Liberty content expansion in just 2 weeks, namely on September 26, 2023. One of the developers of CDPR, Filip Pierścińskiyesterday on his Twitter account (where he presents himself as “Lead Scene Programmer CD PROJEKT RED SA”), he gave rather interesting information that before the arrival of update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty, it would be a good idea to check the state of the cooling system on the PC, because the game will make more use of the potential of multi-core processors and specifically 8-core will be able to load up to 90%. He recommended running Cinebench or something similar to verify stability:

Filip Pierściński / CDPR:

“Before release CP2077 2.0 and PL please check conditions of your cooling systems in PC. We use all what you have, so workload on CPU 90% on 8 core is expected. To save your time please run Cinebench or similar and check stability of your systems ;-)”

And at the same time he attached the famous “Fire” music video by Scooter, which might be funny to post in a closed group, but not so publicly. Of course, scared comments started to appear as well, whether this means that after the update a more powerful processor will be needed to play the basic game (without Phantom Liberty) or whether the PC could be damaged.

So it’s not surprising that a while ago (18 hours after the original post was published) he wrote a new tweet about how he just wanted to point out the need to constantly check the cooling system in the PC. And he assures that the game should continue to run well with respect to their already published HW requirements and that Cyberpunk 2077 after the 2.0 update and neither Phantom Liberty will not cause damage to the PC.

In discussion there was also a questionwhether it takes into account the 90% for 8-core processors HT/SMT, i.e. 16 threads in this case, which confirmed that the game will now support it natively and that there will be no need for modifications like before. There was not a single word about the effect on performance, so the question of higher or lower demands cannot be commented on. But with a lack of performance (low frames per second) is generally desirableso that the load is spread over as many processor cores as possible, so this fact alone should result in improved performance in the game.

Otherwise, CDPR will have ve Thursday, September 14 at 5:00 p.m our time new stream on their channels at YouTube and by Twitchiwhere they will talk about the new radio stations, Idris Elba himself talks about the character of Reed, and there will also be talk about gameplay and new abilities.
