Cyberpunk 2077 is full of tiny details, and it turns out that one of them has been hiding in plain sight all this time. As fans on Reddit have noticed, Johnny Silverhand’s silver hand is actually made by Arasaka – something the rockerboy is trying to hide.
When Johnny’s cybernetic arm is enlarged, the Arasaka logo can be faintly discerned, showing that his most iconic feature comes from his greatest enemies. Not surprisingly, Johnny tried (without much success) to scrape the logo off his prosthetic, showing that he wasn’t proud of it.
Considering his run-ins with Arasaka even before he tried to blow them all up, it’s no surprise that Johnny tried to remove their name from his arm. For an anti-establishment like him, there is probably nothing worse than relying on a corporation for something, not to mention your own body.
Of course, this only adds another layer of irony and even tragedy to Johnny’s story. Despite his desire to live free and be one of the few people in Find City who will never sell out to a corporation, it’s just not possible. Mega-corporations run the city in such an obsessive way that, one way or another, they will define your life and leave their mark. In Johnny’s case, they were the ones who gave him his titled silver hand, and it’s only thanks to the biochip that he exists at all in 2077.
