Cyberpunk 2077: CD Projekt Red is brought to justice

The threat was not only there, but it was materialized. CD Projek SA will be taken to the United States Court for, allegedly, having hidden information from their investors about the real status of Cyberpunk 2077 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, causing them huge economic losses. The Polish study issued an official statement in which it assures that they are innocent and will defend themselves vigorously against the accusations.

The class action lawsuit refers to the fact that the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and Xbox One exceeded any limit, being virtually unplayable on this generation of consoles. In fact, both CD Projekt Red, Sony and Microsoft were forced to offer a full refund to all users who required it and PlayStation went even further and removed it from its online store. All of these problems are estimated to have resulted in a loss of around a billion dollars.

Cyberpunk 2077: Despite the problems, it reached 13 million copies sold

As published Business Wire, the class action lawsuit alleges that “(1) Cyberpunk 2077 was virtually unplayable on the current generation of consoles due to massive bugs; (2) as a result, Sony had to remove Cyberpunk 2077 from its PlayStation Store, and Sony, Microsoft, and CD Projekt were forced to offer full refunds for the game; (3) as a result, CD Projekt suffered damage to its reputation and financial value; and (4) as a result, defendants’ statements about the business, its operations, and the prospects were specifically false, misleading, and / or lacked reasonable support at all times. When the true details entered the market, the lawsuit alleges that the investors suffered financial damage. “.

This lawsuit is filed by a group of investors represented by the Rosen Law Firm, New York, specializing in financial security cases like this one. “CD Projekt shareholders have the opportunity to recoup their lost investments”says the lawsuit.

The truth is that the judicial chapter between CD Projekt RED and its shareholders has just begun. Justice will have to analyze if there is a support to go ahead with the trial and, in the middle, the moment of negotiations will come. For now, by the time there is a sentence or a settlement, everyone (users included), hopes that by then Cyberpunk 2077 is already closer to what it promised to be.
