Cyberpunk 2077 became the largest digital game launch ever

It is now a well-established truth that Cyberpunk 2077 received a mildly lukewarm reception due to many technical issues, especially on the previous generation of game consoles. It has not stopped the game from selling very well.

It was according to the numbers to Superdata sold 10.2 million digital copies of CD Projekt’s new games during the month of December, which will be a new monthly record.

Good month for the gaming industry

Superdata notes that the sales figures include the copies that were refunded, but the refunds should not have affected the total number of strokes to a significant degree, the company says.

In other words, it seems that relatively few Cyberpunk 2077 players have taken advantage of the refund offer.

It is already known that the game has become a sales success. In December reported CD Project Red that the game had sold 13 million copies as of December 20, which includes both physical and digital copies.

Superdata can also state that the month of December set a new record for the gaming industry in general. Total digital gaming revenue was $ 12 billion, which is an increase of as much as 15 percent compared to the same period last year.

Cyberpunk 2077 was the best-selling title on the PC platform, while on console it was Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War which was at the top, with Cyberpunk 2077 in third place.
