Definitely, the news is relentless on the small seaside town of Saint-Brevin-les-Pins, south of Saint-Nazaire, in Loire-Atlantique.
At the heart of a controversy after the threats and attacks that led its mayor to resign, prompting a support march this Wednesday which brought together 2,000 people, the town was, the same day, the target of a cyberattack.

On its website, the city says it suffered the attack on Wednesday morning.
“In connection with the National Information Systems Security Agency and the State, can we read, the teams are mobilized to allow investigations and analyzes in order to restart the servers in complete safety.”
Contacted, Fabien Roussel, the director general of services for the town, confirms that the IT department reported the attack on Wednesday morning and that everything was cut off as a security measure at the start of the afternoon.
“The phones are off, says Fabien Roussel, the documents present in the server cannot be consulted and the links with the printers unusable.”
To his knowledge, this is the first time that the town has been the target of such an attack.
The messaging service is out of service as well as the telephone, except for the switchboard.
The town hall announces that it will keep the citizens informed of the consequences of this breakdown on its site. For now, there is “no visibility” on a future recovery of IT tools.
