Distributed network attacks are often called distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. These are attacks that send multiple requests to the attacked web resource, with the aim of saturating the website’s capacity to handle multiple requests and thus preventing its proper functioning.
Cyberattackers often use this technique against online shopping sites, online casinos, and any organization or business that relies on online services.
A payment processing company in Israel was the target of a DDoS cyberattack on Sunday, preventing many users from making credit card payments at various stores for several hours.
This is the payment solutions company Hyp, whose services are used by many companies in Israel, including Gett, Wolt, Hop-On and the Maccabi health network, among others.
The company confirmed that its subsidiary Credit Guard was the target of the attack, but assured that it had managed to block the intrusion and restore the normal functioning of its services.
