Cyber watchdog shares list of apps vulnerable to hackers

The National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) has a list shared with apps that are vulnerable to hackers. The fear is that hackers will attack the apps with ransomware. That is software that they use to block networks and steal data. In return, they demand a ransom.

The apps on the list are vulnerable because they work with Log4j. This is software that companies and institutions worldwide use to keep digital logs. A leak in Log4j allows hackers to easily penetrate corporate systems.

The NCSC warned yesterday even before the data breach in Log4j. If hackers attack the systems, vital infrastructure could be hit, including the financial market, railways and Internet service providers.

The list is not yet complete and needs to be completed. The NCSC calls on companies and institutions to share additional information, for example about the version of Log4j they use. The center also has a step-by-step plan put online for companies. Here’s what they can do to protect their systems.
