It is because of a computer attack against Unique General Insurance that the services of La Capitale Insurance and SSQ Insurance have had to be interrupted since Friday.
On Thursday, Unique General Insurance, a subsidiary of La Capitale, was targeted by hackers.
“The immediate shutdown of the IT ecosystem, including telephone systems, was promptly implemented. As a precautionary measure, the operations of La Capitale and SSQ Insurance were also temporarily suspended while investigating the situation, and to protect the IT environment and our clients’ data, ”L’Unique reported by press release, Sunday.
While still investigating this incident, the company was unable to say whether any customer or broker data could have been accessed by computer thugs. But they will be quickly contacted if this is the case.
“For security reasons, L’Unique’s IT environment is confined for the time it takes to complete the analysis in progress. Service levels will continue to be affected until the analysis is complete, ”she added.
L’Unique said the Autorité des marchés financiers had been warned of the attack.
The computer threat targeting the Unica subsidiary, as well as La Capitale Assurance, was probably “contained in time” even if customer services are temporarily interrupted while the investigation progresses.
“To be on the safe side, SSQ’s systems were also put on hold, the time to conduct a rigorous analysis. The latter is sufficiently advanced to conclude that no suspicious activity in the SSQ environment or manifestation of an external threat has been detected. The services are gradually taking the time to reactivate all of the computer systems, ”a press release confirmed.
La Capitale Insurance and Services and SSQ Insurance joined forces in July to create a new entity called Beneva. The IT integration has not yet been fully finalized between these two companies.
