Baník Ostrava, like all other teams, started their preparation for the new season. However, after the initial easy win over Otrokovice, there were two draws, but now the Silesian team was able to win again, this time at Lišné. How does coach Vrba evaluate the training process so far?
How is Baník doing so far in preparation for the new season? In the opening match, Pavel Vrba’s wards beat Otrokovic 7:1, when the Silesian team played mainly with players from the junior team. Kuzmanovič, Yao, Tijani, Tetour, Ciencala, Jaroň and Chlumecký won the match. It should be noted that Lukáš Cienciala was very active in this race.
But then Baník drew twice in a row. First in the home match against Zlín (1:1) and then against the Polish team Termalica Nieciecza (0:0). Against Zlín Baník, several players were still missing, but even so, Slezáné created a large number of chances and scoring opportunities.
As coach Vrba himself noted, Baník conceded after his own mistake in passing, but he indicated that due to the number of chances created, they will have to work on converting them.
In the match with Nieciecza Baník entered the first half with almost a complete line-up, but the Ostrava team did not manage to score a single goal.
“Today we ran into an opponent who didn’t let us have chances, the weekly block that was focused on fitness showed on us. We didn’t push as much as we did in the previous two games. But again, it showed us how some players deal with it and handle certain game situations.” Vrba evaluated the third preparatory match on club website.
So far, Baník played his last preparatory duel at Lišné, where he won 2:0. It should be noted that many young players jumped into the match again, including Cienciala, Jaroňa, Boula, Fulnek or Kubala.
And it was Petr Jaroň who decided the game in Líšn with both goals. First, in the 28th minute, he didn’t hesitate with a penalty kick, and the second time he scored just before half-time, when Muhamed Tijani sent him a great pass into the small goal area.
“We ran into a team that played for promotion to the league last season. I think we deserved to win if we didn’t make some fatal mistakes in defense. We controlled the match, I’m satisfied,” comments Vrba again on the club website.
“Our squad is slowly taking shape, some players will go to play for B team against Trnava, but this does not mean that they have been reassigned. We just want them to play a tough game against a quality opponent.” he added.
Baník’s next and closest friendly match is already on Saturday, July 9 against Žilina, and then a spectacular duel as part of the centenary celebrations against Scottish Celtic (Wednesday, July 13).
These will undoubtedly be the most representative matches in their preparation. Furthermore, Baník will play three more duels. First, the Ostrava footballers will face the Greek teams APK Karmiotissa and PAS Giannina in the Polish city of Kielce, and on Saturday, July 23, they will play the last preparatory duel at home against Karviná.
