Barbet further explained that incidents like this are rare in Dijon. “Generally, drug trafficking occurs between large urban centers and does not typically involve small or medium-sized towns,” she said.
The woman will remain in the hospital until all the drugs are collected. “The eggs will come out through the feces. Scans are frequently made to see what remains to be extracted. She takes medication to speed up the process, but also to control the extraction. If an egg were to explode inside, she would have died from an overdose,” Barbet added.
The woman was tried in immediate appearance and received a two-year prison sentence, with one year to be served, along with a customs fine of 35,425 euros. “She said it was a personal initiative because she had money worries. But she cannot afford this amount if she is facing financial difficulties,” Barbet assured.
In a separate incident on Sunday, June 18, the customs brigade intercepted a truck on the A6 near the Brognon area. They seized 637 kilos of hookah tobacco, valued at 135,720 euros.
The authorities have not revealed whether the two incidents are connected or part of a larger drug trafficking operation. Investigations are ongoing.
