Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – This year the demand for professional Nikolaus actors is low. The “Nikolaus-Zentrale” in Münster recorded an 80 percent decrease in inquiries for Santa Clauses and Santa Clauses. “There are more bookings than last year. But that is no comparison to the times before Corona,” explained the manager Winfried Keuthage. As Santa Claus, he himself decided to only visit children in the fresh air this year. If the corona situation worsens further, he would also like to offer digital visits – then Santa Claus will come by video switch.
Nikolaus actor Stefan Dößereck is also disappointed about “shockingly few inquiries” in his network “The Santa Claus Service”. Since many Christmas parties were canceled at short notice, Dößereck had to accept some cancellations.
In addition to the occasional bookings on the St. Nicholas weekend, Dößereck also appears at a Christmas market in Cologne. This year he is not only double vaccinated, but also equipped with double mouth and nose protection: “I wear a mask under my beard and a mask over it,” he explained. Dößereck would like the markets to stay open: “I am happy about every single child that I make shining. Santa Claus is systemically relevant, I think.”
