Hamburg. Customs seized 15 kilograms of cocaine in the port of Hamburg on Thursday. The drugs were discovered and seized in the structure of an empty container. A customs patrol from the main customs office in Hamburg checked the empty container in the port on Thursday. The customs dog Loki indicated a suspicion of drugs on the transport container. The subsequent X-ray inspection in the container inspection facility of the Hamburg customs office confirmed this suspicion. The X-ray images showed conspicuous packages in the structure of the container. The manual inspection subsequently unearthed 15 kilograms of cocaine.
Stephan Meyns, spokesman for the Hamburg Customs Investigation Office, says: “Customs monitors the ports very closely and thus makes a significant contribution to internal security in Germany and Europe. Routine checks also repeatedly lead to seizures, for example of cocaine.” The narcotics seized have a street price of around 1.5 million euros. The Hamburg Customs Investigation Office took over the further investigations.
