The fine for illegal stay of a car in Ukraine is reduced from 170 thousand hryvnia to 8.5 thousand hryvnia. After paying the fine, you can either take the car abroad or clear it through customs in Ukraine.
The law establishes the requirements for such cars. Vehicles must be for personal use, used and more than 5 years have passed since the year of production. They must be classified according to headings 8703, 8704 (with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons) according to UKT VED. We are talking about cars that, as of December 31, 2020, were in the customs regime of temporary import or transit.
Preferential customs clearance does not apply to:
- vehicles specially designed for traveling on snow,
- special vehicles for the transport of athletes to golf courses and similar vehicles,
- motor vehicles equipped for temporary residence of people.
An individual will not need to pay twice to the state budget a fine for a non-cleared car if such payment has already taken place when this vehicle was exported from the territory of Ukraine (for example, in order to remove it from the register in another country).
The validity period for simplifying the customs clearance of vehicles for combatants is extended to 270 days. But subject to documentary confirmation of their stay for more than 90 days from 15 May directly on the territory of the Joint Forces operation.
