Published in Le Télégramme on Thursday, October 19, the testimony of Sarah, who lost €24,000 after the judicial liquidation of Protection Soleil, a Quimper window and veranda installation company, provoked reactions from other customers who lost also significant sums. Two of them called us to share their testimonies, which agree with that of Sandra, and which raise serious questions about the management of the company in recent years.
€9,700 deposit for nothing
The first testimony is that of a retired couple who live in Loctudy and who tell how they signed a quote for a veranda for €24,000, before paying a deposit of €9,700 in August 2021. First difficulty, they are waiting almost a year before their building permit application was validated, after having suffered several refusals, because “the plans were not good”.
The permit was finally granted, in May 2022. But from this date, the Loctudists have never managed to bring in the company so that the work can be carried out. The boss systematically makes excuses, such as an employee leaving the company or workers falling ill.
In mid-September 2023, they were still assured, by telephone, that the workers “will pass”. But at the end of the month, the liquidation procedure was declared by the Quimper Commercial Court. “They took us for a ride,” laments the couple who lost €9,700 in the affair, and who, on top of that, destroyed their old veranda to make way for the new one. They contacted a bailiff to put together a case to get their money back, but they know their chances are slim. They wanted to testify so that the “boss cannot trace any company behind”.
€15,000 for a leaking veranda
Another testimony, a couple from Pont-l’Abbé, again for the construction of a veranda. After two years of waiting and several unfulfilled appointments, the veranda was finally built. But only partly! “We had our veranda, but it’s not finished. There are a lot of defects. Water gets in.” The Pont-l’Abbistes paid a total of €15,000: “We can’t take advantage of this veranda, we’re still cleaning up! “.
Here again, promises were made and not kept. “In August, they told us that they were taking a fortnight’s vacation and that they would come back to finish.”
Seeing nothing coming, the couple contacted the suppliers of Solar Protection at the end of September, in desperation, who informed them of the judicial liquidation of the Quimper company: “I was going to work when they told me. I wasn’t feeling well… I wondered how I was going to tell my husband about this. Even if we felt there was something. Three times, my husband waited an entire afternoon for them to come, because an appointment had been made. They never came.”
These testimonies are not isolated, around ten aggrieved customers are currently studying how to take collective legal action against the former boss of Solar Protection.
