160,000 cars a year
Ford has previously said it will increase production of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup.
Now, according to the American website insideev.com, the plan is to gear up even more – to 160,000 cars a year in 2023. Twice as much as first planned.
In addition, Ford also has an electric van: the E-Transit.
Insideev.com has calculated that the total production of electric cars will be around 50,000 cars per month, by the end of 2023. Then we are talking annual volume of around 600,000 electric cars from Ford alone in 2024.

Batteries a challenge
Farley says that the biggest challenge in maintaining a high pace of production is batteries.
They have therefore invested in three new gig factories in Tennessee and Kentucky. But it will take a few years before these are in place. Initially, a start-up in 2025 is envisaged.
It says something about what an enormous investment this is, that the new factories will contribute with over 11,000 jobs.
