Customer-tailored virtual clothing fittings available in the US

Walmart provides its customers with a technology to see the rendering of a garment on a model resembling them in size and morphology.

In France, Euveka offers an intelligent mannequin to show a garment on several morphologies. In the United States, Walmart offers something similar. The distribution giant has just announced the introduction of a new shopping experience: the virtual fitting of clothes. It offers such functionality after acquiring Zeekit last year. This start-up has designed a technology to allow anyone to dress virtually with an item of clothing found online.

Walmart aims to present “an inclusive, immersive and personalized digital experience that will best replicate physical shopping”. He wants to help customers see how a garment looks on them. Called Choose My Model, the experience allows them to choose a model that best matches their size, body type, skin tone and hair color. 50 in number, the models available range from XS to XXXL for sizes between 1.57 m and 1.83 m.

Expand offerings to make shopping easier for customers

Walmart plans to expand its model selection, launching nearly 70 more models in the coming weeks to offer more sizes, skin tones and hair colors to its customers. Similarly, the American company plans to offer its Choose My Model experience with more clothing. At the moment, the feature is only available on select items from different brands. When one of them is included in Choose My Model, customers are prompted to select a model on the page of the garment in question. Walmart claims to have already received positive feedback.

The distribution giant does not intend to stop there. He would like to launch new virtual fitting experiences to make it easier to buy clothes online and reduce the number of item returns from customers. For example, he indicates that he is working on one of them reserved for women’s clothing.
