Beijing: Following a dispute with an employee, a customer withdrew six and a half crore rupees from the bank in one go and demanded that it be counted and paid within two hours without the help of a machine. The incident took place in the Shanghai Bank branch during the 2021 Covid. The incident went viral after two years when pictures of the incident were recently shared on social media by the username Sunware.

The wealthy customer has stated that he decided to withdraw such a large amount in one go because the customer service of the bank was not satisfactory. The incident was picked up by Chinese media and went viral on social media like Weibo.

He had said in the post that he would withdraw the maximum amount he could withdraw in a day and transfer his remaining deposit to another bank. Footage of bank officials counting wads of notes and a customer walking out with a suitcase full of cash went viral on social media.

According to a statement given by the bank officials to The Paper, the reason for the dispute was the questioning of not wearing a mask as per the Covid norms. However, the customer responded through Weibo that he had forgotten to bring a mask and asked for another one and that he had not violated the Covid norms.
