After insects are allowed in food, Ritter Sport follows the trend – and annoys numerous customers with a post on Instagram.

Many consumers are worried that the use of insects in foods such as bread and biscuits should be allowed. However, few people know that insects such as lice are already being processed in many foods – or what the little animals excrete. Sweets in particular contain these unappetizing ingredients. Our List shows affected foods containing lice and other insects. Ritter Sport is not there yet. But can that change soon?

Ritter Sport presents insect edition – “with crunchy cricket legs”

Ritter Sport posts on Instagram: “Barbecue in the food? Admitted from today! We have been ready for a long time – are you too?”. The photo that is presented shows a bright green chocolate bar with the inscription “Ganze Grille”. On it you can see the insect and the small print: “With crunchy cricket legs”. This should be loud RUHR24 act as a joke. However, this is not well received by consumers.

In the comments, Ritter Sport fans are horrified by the new cricket edition, as reported by HEIDELBERG24: “You do not joke about that. Now I won’t buy chocolate anymore until you distance yourself from it. I am highly allergic and find it very gross. Disgust makes sense because it protects us from something”, “I will NEVER buy Ritter Sport chocolate again. Your jokes aren’t all that funny!’, and ‘I’m not afraid of crickets, but of jousting…’ Did the joke come too soon? After all, consumers have to digest the new insect law first.

“You can keep them and eat them yourself!” Ritter Sport annoys some customers with the insect joke

A lot of people just didn’t get the “joke”: “No more chocolate! Far too much sugar and now also insects” or “Since the “Vaccine Edition” in November 21 I haven’t invested a cent in your products anyway,” comment consumers. Customers generally have a clear opinion of the Ritter Sport chocolate barbeque edition: “You can keep it and eat it yourself! Stop playing with our food.”

“The question I have (seriously)… Does your normal chocolate include the ingredients ‘may contain traces of crickets and other crawling animals’? Please separate that neatly… I just don’t want that in the chocolate, not even in traces…” Not a bad question. At Foods that contain insects must have certain indications in the list of ingredients give on it. Has Ritter Sport messed with the insect joke with some consumers? (mad)
