Custo Barcelona shelters the cold with brightness, color and “emotion” in New York

New York, Feb 13 (EFE).- Custo Barcelona presented this Monday at New York Fashion Week a new collection defined by the experimental in which it mixed volume, shine and color to give “excitement” to the fall-season. winter.

Down coats, in their short and more voluminous version, were the predominant option to fight the cold and were made with lively finishes, such as metallic blue, bright white or yellow leopard print.

However, the dress was once again the star garment: in the “mini” size it was seen to be tight and short or looser and with movement; printed with jewel colors such as turquoise or in an iridescent tone, and almost always with suggestive openings that exposed the skin.

They also highlighted the “mini” skirts, with ruffles or tables; the sets of tight trousers and matching top in jewel colors or the long dresses with mirror decorations, all of this always combined with half-round boots and stiletto heels, also in colours.

The creative director of the house, Custo Dalmau, called the proposal “Welcome to the other side” and explained to EFE that he has continued to bet on that creativity that has been the engine of his pieces for 42 years and which he has not dispensed with even for the cold season.

“‘Welcome to the other side’ (refers to the) emotional side of clothing. The clothes have a functionality that we maintain, but we give it the plus of emotion and try to create an advanced language of emotional fashion”, added the designer behind the scenes.

Dalmau acknowledged that the last three years, as a result of the pandemic, have been “hard on fashion, but now it is already overcoming itself mentally, people want to turn the page” and it is once again “programmed” to dress above functionality and comfort.
