The Victoria Diez de Córdoba Association, thanks to extensive volunteering, participates in one of the most striking and solidarity actions carried out, the realization of special cushions for women who are in the postoperative period of breast cancer.
This initiative, says Trini Moreno, was born in October after a visit, together with the patchwork monitor, to the Virgen Macarena Hospital in Seville. «The visit was to see mobility of the affected arm after breast cancer surgery. There, in all the consultations he had hung a heart-shaped cushion Very soft texture, used to place the arm. Apparently these cushions are scarce and there was only one sample. As a result of COVID-19, none had been received, ”according to Trini Moreno.
This cushion was created by the head of oncology at a Danish hospital, who patented her idea. After this, his work arrived in Palma de Mallorca in 2009 promoted by a doctor from the University Hospital of Palma de Mallorca. The effectiveness of these cushions during the post-operative period of breast cancer has been investigated and verified. At that time, the two components of the association decided to make cushions to donate to the Virgen de la Macarena Hospital.
With colorful fabrics and meeting the requirements that are needed, these cushions began to be made. This, according to Trini Moreno, was very exciting on the part of the members who worked hard to be able to manufacture the maximum possible number of cushions. So far, they have made about one quarantine among about a dozen women.
