The blood donation was carried out in the context of the campaign organized by the Ministry of Health (Minsa), through the Regional Health Management (Geresa) Cusco, with support from the Rotary Club Santa María, held on the UAC campus, where young people demonstrated that donating blood is a gesture of love that helps save lives.
Rocío Landa Sierra, head of the Blood Bank at the Antonio Lorena Hospitalexplained that there are patients who require blood and platelet transfusions for their medical treatments and procedures. Therefore, voluntary blood donors are needed.
“Without donors there are no blood transfusions. They help us save thousands of lives, such as children with cancer. For this reason we must ensure the availability of blood and we ask people to donate voluntarily.“, Landa said.
