The Berglerner curvy model Theresa Frömberg (26) celebrated her catwalk premiere at Berlin Fashion Week. Now she wants to go to New York.
Berglern – A dream has come true for Theresa Frömberg. The model from Berglern was on the catwalk for the first time at Berlin Fashion Week. Now the 26-year-old wants more of it. Her big goal: New York. With a dress size of 42/44, Theresa Frömberg belongs to the so-called curvy models, i.e. women with curves far from the typical model dimensions.
The 26-year-old explains that it is often difficult for her to get on the catwalk. So she was all the happier when her agency asked her a while ago if she wanted to run in designer Marcel Ostertag’s show at Berlin Fashion Week.

In January, Frömberg, who grew up in Berglern and now lives and studies in Landshut, tried her luck at the fashion week in the capital and took part in a casting, but it didn’t work out. “I actually wanted to focus on London Fashion Week this year because the market for curvy models is simply bigger there. The fact that I was able to spontaneously run in Berlin is unbelievably great,” enthuses the model, for whom it was the first time ever on a catwalk.
And that’s not all: Frömberg was also part of the shoot for Ostertag’s new campaign. She is still very enthusiastic about what she experienced in Berlin. “I also really like Marcel Ostertag as a person. It was a great honor for me to be part of the show,” she says.
“You also meet models that you know from the media”
The day before was the fitting, i.e. the fitting for the catwalk in the Verti Music Hall in Berlin-Friedrichshain, where the show also took place. “We got backstage passes and then we started,” says Frömberg. First her hair was styled backstage, then came the make-up – “you also meet models that you know from the media,” she says – participants in the TV show “Germany’s Next Topmodel” like this year’s fourth-placed Selma May for example.

They rehearsed again right before the show – with the right shoes, “and then you just hope that the floor isn’t slippery and you won’t fall,” says Frömberg and laughs. Before she then went on the catwalk, the designer personally gave her the final scrutiny. “He’s everywhere, looks at every model again, speaks to him well. He has a great way of dealing with the models, and you just have the feeling that he sees you with him,” says Frömberg and admits: “I was excited, but also just ready to do it. After all, that’s what I’ve been working towards for a long time.”
Curvy Model has done campaigns for Guido Maria Kretschmer, Amazon and C&A
She has been in the fashion world for six years now and has done campaigns for Guido Maria Kretschmer, Amazon Fashion and C&A. And now the successful catwalk premiere. “It makes you feel super strong, but it also goes by so quickly.” The 26-year-old was allowed to present two outfits: First at the main show, a colorful trouser suit from Ostertag’s collection “Somewhere over the Rainbow” for spring and summer 2024, then an orange one-piece suit from his cooperation with the women’s fashion company Peter Hahn. “The pieces were amazing. It was all so colourful, so many colors, shapes and patterns, but the models were also completely diverse,” says Frömberg: “Every guy was there, small models, older models, curved models – that was a great fit.”

“I really want to work towards New York”: 26-year-old is also studying business administration
After this catwalk debut, the mountain learner wants more: “I really want to work towards New York. There feels like there is a very good market for curvy models there,” she says and has already taken the first steps towards the Big Apple: the visa is in progress, the contract with a model agency in New York has already been signed. In any case, an engagement at the fashion week there would be a big goal for Frömberg.
But she can also imagine staying in the USA for a longer period of time. “Of course that would be great, because for places further away you need several months to introduce yourself properly and so that the agency has time to market you.”
Until then, the young woman will concentrate on her business studies. “I’ll take my time for that, I definitely want to finish it,” she says. For example, she wants to advance her modeling career during the semester break. With her walk at the Berlin Fashon Week, Frömberg proved that studying and modeling are not mutually exclusive.
