The Warriors, tenth in the Western Conference, were never behind and went into halftime with a 15-point lead, supported by 21 from Thompson, who made seven three-pointers, including five in the first half.
Golden State improved to 3-0 against Houston on the season. They have won their last 13 regular season games against the Rockets.
Jabari Smith Jr. scored 24 points to lead the Rockets, who suffered their third straight loss after winning their previous 11 games. Rookie Cam Whitmore added 17 points off the bench.
Brunson, Hart lead Knicks to comeback
Jalen Brunson had 35 points and 11 assists, Josh Hart set a season-high 31 points and the New York Knicks beat the Sacramento Kings 120-109 on Thursday.
New York erased a 21-point deficit and left behind a three-game losing streak.
Hours after announcing that Julius Randle will undergo surgery on his right shoulder and miss the rest of the season, the Knicks showed why they can still be dangerous without him.
Hart overcame a sprained right wrist to shoot 14 of 19 on a night in which he also contributed nine rebounds and eight assists.
Donge DiVincenzo scored 21 points for the Knicks, who moved into fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a 45-31 record. The Magic have the advantage in the tiebreaker and would have home-field advantage in a first-round series if both teams finish with the same record.
De’Aaron Fox had 29 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for the Kings, who missed the opportunity to catch up with New Orleans and Phoenix in the sixth place in the West. Sacramento had won two games in a row.
