At the moment, the adventure comedy “The Lost City” is only entertaining cinema audiences. Nevertheless, you can already order the jungle fun with Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Brad Pitt and Daniel Radcliffe on DVD & Blu-ray.
Chart-topping Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore wasn’t beaten, but at least Sandra Bullock and her co-stars Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe did the best new start of the cinema weekend: the adventure comedy “The Lost City” attracted more than 170,000 people to German cinemas at the start. Thus, the US surprise hit took second place in the local cinema releases and reached almost three times as many interested parties as the bloody Viking revenge epic “The Northman”.
In the FILMSTARTS review we attest to “The Lost City”, “an entertaining adventure with heart and wit“, which “presents Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum in absolute (charming) top form.” Therefore, a visit to the cinema is definitely recommended. Nevertheless, it is also worth taking a look at the home cinema future of the film: If you want to have “The Lost City” on time for the release date, you can act now – because the DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray can already be pre-ordered, as can the purchase stream on Amazon Prime Video:
» “The Lost City” bei Amazon Prime Video*
» “The Lost City” on DVD at MediaMarkt*
» “The Lost City” on Blu-ray at MediaMarkt*
» “The Lost City” on 4K Blu-ray at MediaMarkt*
While pre-orders are already open, Paramount Pictures has yet to announce a specific release date for The Lost City – neither for the physical editions nor for the paid stream.
“The Lost City”: Adventure joke with charm
The successful writer Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) has retired after the death of her husband and ekes out a frustrated and unmotivated existence. However, under pressure from her publishers, she rattles off a new installment in her popular series, which once again features model Alan (Channing Tatum) on the cover. Right at the beginning of the book promotion tour, the unforeseeable happens: Loretta is kidnapped by the self-important billionaire Fairfax (Daniel Radcliffe), because he thinks Loretta could lead him to lost treasure. Loyal as he is, Alan embarks on a rescue operation with his mediation coach, Jack (Brad Pitt).
The directing brother duo Adam & Aaron Nee shot “The Lost City” largely outdoors in the Dominican Republic. Even if the Nee brothers didn’t show the greatest staging ambition in their adventure comedy, it definitely benefits from the flair of the real film locations. Above all, however, it is the shared comedic timing and the credibly unfolding romantic chemistry between Tatum and Bullock that convinces audiences and many critics – at least when Brad Pitt is not stealing the show.
Incidentally, the fact that Pitt plays a tattooed, felt-haired meditation guru in “The Lost City” who is also an amazing one-man fighting machine is something that those responsible for “The Lost City” have to thank for an unusual coincidence. We told you about it in a separate article…
