In the 2022 mid-term elections, the United States will re-elect its Congress. Here you will find the most important polls.
USA – The midterm will take place in the USA on 8 November. The members of the House of Representatives, about a third of the senators and numerous governors are newly elected.
For a long time it seemed like there was going to be a red wave at Midterms 2022. Because Republicans seemed to be the clear winners in all polls until recently, with clear majorities expected in both houses of Congress. President Joe Biden and the Democrats appeared to be threatened with outright defeat.
In the meantime, the situation has changed. It looked like the Democrats could celebrate partial success and at least hold the Senate. In the meantime, however, the situation in the Senate has returned to reverse. The ongoing polls, which we present in our ticker poll, do not allow for a clear picture in the Senate at the moment.
The “FiveThirtyEight” portal recalculates the odds every day. So how will the 2022 midterms end?
- senate: Republicans will do it with a chance of 55% obtain a majority in the Senate

Midterm 2022 in the USA: 35 seats in the Senate awaiting election
35 seats in the Senate will be redistributed in the mid-term elections. The resignation of Republican Jim Inhofe in Oklahoma adds a special election to the 34 regular elections. When it comes to the question of whether Democrats or Republicans will have a majority in the Senate, results in ten states play a particularly important role. It can be assumed that the remaining states will remain in democratic or republican hands.

The most fiercely contested are according to polls Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania. Whoever wins two of these three states should also be in control of the Senate. A 50-50 standoff is still enough for Democrats as Vice President Kamala Harris, in her role as Senate President, has the casting vote in this case.
In Pennsylvania, Democratic candidate John Fetterman still leads the polls, but Republican Mehmet Oz recently hit the polls. In Georgia, Democrat Raphael Warnock was way ahead of Republican opponent Herschel Walker, but Walker is now just above average in all polls. Two recent polls New York Times and Siena College, as well as Marist College, both of which are particularly reliable, but see Warnock ahead. So he remains exciting. In Nevada, Republican candidate Adam Laxalt has gradually increased his lead over Catherine Cortez Masto in recent weeks.
If the Democrats lose a majority in the Senate, Republicans are likely to make the government of President Joe Biden nearly impossible.

Here, according to polls, there may be at least some surprises. Republicans are particularly hoping for success in Arizona, where Trump candidate Blake Masters wants to overthrow former astronaut Mark Kelly. Democrats are hoping for a turnaround in Ohio and Wisconsin.

Midterms 2022: Election to the Chamber of Deputies
All 435 seats are awaiting election in the US House of Representatives elections. Members of Parliament are elected by direct vote in their constituency for two years. As the 2022 mid-term elections will be the first to use the 2020 U.S. Census seat allocation, all constituencies have been rebalanced. Democrats currently have a majority of 220 seats, Republicans hold 212, and three seats are vacant. All the polls suggest that Republicans will get the majority here.
Midterms 2022: government elections
In the mid-term elections in the United States, governor posts will also be filled in 36 states. There are also two well-known politicians at the beginning who are fighting for higher things in the future. Ron DeSantis, who many already see as Donald Trump’s successor, is unlikely to win in Florida. In California, promising Democrat Gavin Newsome remains unchallenged. In Arizona, meanwhile, a head to head is looming between Trump candidate Kari Lake and Democrat Katie Hobbs.
