Exceeding fees, claims around a revaluation of consultations, control of sick leave… This Monday, August 14, Jérôme Marty, president of the French Union for Free Medicine (UFML), mentioned a number ofcurrent issues in general medicine on RTL.
For him, the government’s handling of work stoppages is an aberration. “There is a societal fact, with, since the Covid, a relationship to work that has changed”, he recalls first. “There are plenty of facts that cause work stoppages to increase, and rather than acting like a doctor, we have a government that prefers to act like a nag“, he berates.
Concerning checks of practitioners who issue too many work stoppages according to Health InsuranceJérôme Marty affirms it: “It will be pschitt, I announce it to you. It will not resist the study of the files of each doctor”, he asserts at the microphone of RTL.
“More than half” of doctors resort to illegal fee overruns
On the subject of increasingly frequent overruns of so-called “wild” fees, Jérôme Marty claims to “understand” the phenomenon. A share of general practitioners “do this [augmenter leurs honoraires en fonction du type de consultation, Ndlr] for several weeks now”, he specifies. And to continue, referring to a deterioration in the working conditions of city doctors: “The basic price is 25 euros, it’s not fees, it’s ‘dishonoraries'”.In constant euros, we have the same prices as in 1995“, he says again.
Jérôme Marty believes that inflating prices remains the last resort of doctors: “To save their practice, they do that. Because we need doctors and thatwe cannot accept that medical companies sink, in the face of inflation, of exploding charges“, explains the doctor from Toulouse. According to him, “more than half” of general practitioners today practice these wild overtakings.
