New Head of Police Operations in the Rheinpfalz Presidium

March 4, 2021 | Subject area: Police, Rhineland-Palatinate | To press

Interior Minister Roger Lewentz today appointed Police Director Anja Rakowski as the new Head of the Police Operations Department at the Rheinpfalz Police Headquarters. As a permanent representative of the head of the authority, she is the first female police officer in Rhineland-Palatinate in this prominent management position and succeeds Georg Litz in this position, to whom Minister Lewentz transferred the management of the authority in December 2020.

“I wish Ms. Rakowski, whose work I have come to appreciate very much during her time in the ministry, every success in her new role,” said the Minister of the Interior.

For Police Director Anja Rakowski, this is the first position in the Rheinpfalz Police Headquarters. In 1990 she joined the police service of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and went through all careers from middle to senior to higher police service. After studying at the German Police University in Münster and subsequently advancing to the higher police service, she was initially deputy head of the 1st riot police department in Enkenbach-Alsenborn from 2009. She then took over the management of the Mainz 1 police station in 2013 and in 2016 switched to the Ministry of the Interior and Sports in Mainz, where she later took over the management of the situation center. Most recently, she was Head of the Presidential Staff at Police Headquarters, Operations, Logistics and Technology since 2019.

The police department in Landau, Ludwigshafen and Neustadt as well as the criminal investigation department and the management staff are subordinate to it. In her new role, Ms. Rakowski is responsible for over 1700 employees.

He was convinced that the Rhine Palatinate Police Headquarters with the leadership duo Georg Litz and Anja Rakowski are very well positioned to tackle upcoming challenges such as the new construction of the police headquarters in Ludwigshafen or the further development of the recruiting and advancement of women, said the minister.
