Until 10.30 am, 8 percent of the Dutch voters have cast their vote, according to measurements by research agency Ipsos commissioned by the NOS.
In the Provincial Council elections four years ago, turnout was slightly lower around that time: 7 percent. The total turnout in 2019 was over 56 percent. Ipsos also mentions that the turnout was relatively high then compared to previous elections for the province.
The first polling stations opened at midnight, but by far most polling stations opened their doors at 07:30. At about 10,000 locations, people can vote until 9 p.m. tonight. Then counting the votes and waiting for the results begins.
Most municipal results are expected from 10:30 p.m. Results from the major cities will probably not come in until after midnight.
