Current Corona cases: Upper Austria is approaching the 100 mark

Fewer than 100 sufferers in Upper Austria: in early May, this was excellent news after a maximum of more than 1,300 people were infected in April. Now we are approaching the 100 mark again – but from the other side. While at the beginning of June there were only 17 people currently suffering from Covid in Upper Austria, yesterday morning it was 88 again. Since Thursday (43 cases), the number of patients has doubled.

Many cases in Linz and Linz-Land

More than half of the current cases in Upper Austria are currently concentrated in the districts of Linz (32) and Linz-Land (20). The Linz Mayor Klaus Luger (SP) yesterday appealed to the population to take on more responsibility. “We have Corona under control, but we shouldn’t take the virus lightly. The protective measures are still important.”

Nine infected people in Linz belong to the cluster around a free church in Wankmllerhofstrasse. The rest of those affected are individual cases which, according to the magistrate, “could not develop into clusters due to the immediate measures taken by the health authority”.

New case in the Leondingen school

Corona cases are also increasing in schools. A new case became known yesterday from the Haag elementary school in Leonding. There a student was tested positive. The contact person management is running, announced the crisis team of the state of Upper Austria.

As reported, there are also corona cases at the Ramsau high school, the Weber elementary school, the New Middle School Ebelsberg and the Pstlingberg elementary school (all in Linz) and the New Middle School Sattledt. In Sattledt, in addition to the already known case of one student, another student was tested positive. Corona diseases have also occurred again in two old people’s homes – one case concerns an employee, the other a resident.

In view of the increasing numbers, Governor Thomas Stelzer and LH’s deputy for health, Christine Haberlander (both VP), appealed to people’s personal responsibility on Saturday and reminded them of the applicable safety regulations. “Compliance with the health protection regulations is the best protective shield to counteract uncontrolled spreading and prevent possible restrictions from being restarted,” said Stelzer and Haberlander.
