The Nintendo DS was the first Nintendo system with an operating system that you could see regularly when you booted up the console. Not only could Nintendo DS and GameBoy Advance games be started, but the game download function and pictochat were also selected via the simple menu. In the settings you can also enter your favorite color, name and language, as well as when it is your birthday.
However, a leaked version of the prototype version of NITRO’s Start Menu (NITRO was the codename for the Nintendo DS) now shows that the company originally planned to allow even more inputs. In addition to specifying your gender, you may also have specified your blood type. While in this country many do not even know which category their blood falls into, in Japan it is different. Almost everyone knows their blood type and uses this knowledge, for example, on dating platforms and other leisure activities. However, since the whole thing was only interesting for this market, Nintendo probably decided to drop the feature in the final version.
