A curious moment happened to Lewis Hamilton in preparation for the upcoming US Grand Prix of the F1 World Series.

The seven-time world champion from Great Britain was supposed to attend a press conference together with Charles Leclerc, but there was an empty seat next to the Ferrari driver.

The Mercedes driver arrived about five minutes after the start of the media event and immediately apologized for his delay. “I’m sorry I’m late. I stayed locked in my room and couldn’t get out. I’m not kidding.” Hamilton was quoted by the DPA.

According to his team, the castle broke and the defending champion will hope that it was not a bad sign before Sunday’s race. The Briton is six points behind the Dutch leader Max Verstappen of the Red Bull.
