Curious goal mishap in Wolfsburg against Frankfurt: Trapp shines as a helper

In the early stages of the Bundesliga game between VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, a curious scene occurred on Sunday. Referee Daniel Schlager had to interrupt the match for a few minutes because something was wrong with goalkeeper Kevin Trapp’s goal.

Curious incident at the end of the 23rd Bundesliga matchday: just a few minutes after kick-off, the game between VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday was suspended again. Disagreements at the goal of the guests from the Main metropolis had caused referee Daniel Schlager to interrupt the game briefly. With the help of SGE goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, the problem was fixed and the showdown between the two contenders for the European deal continued.

What exactly happened? Shortly before the end of the second minute, the referee’s whistle suddenly blew. Together with Frankfurt keeper Trapp, the 33-year-old walked to the left goalpost. At first glance, Schlager knew: Something is wrong! The post didn’t seem to be properly seated in the ground mount. The gate was a good ten centimeters too high on one side.

Is the Frankfurt goal post regular size? Referee Schlager whistles the game again

First, the German national goalkeeper shook the post – when that didn’t work, he roughly measured again with outstretched hand that the Frankfurt goal was really higher at one point. Those responsible for Wolfsburg rushed over. But then Trapp took his fate into his own hands. Without further ado, the number one of the SBU decided to do pull-ups on the bar. And sure enough, the post slid back into the bracket and water squirted out of the post fixture. Was the post really completely correct afterwards? Trapp and especially Schlager seemed to be satisfied with the spontaneous solution. The referee finally let the game continue after just over a minute and a half.

After the rather strange incident, things got sporty again. VfL, currently bottom of the table, took the lead through Omar Marmoush, who was linked to a transfer to Eintracht. Referee Schlager and his team were challenged again because the goal scorer was on the verge of being offside. However, the goal stood the test of the video referee (10th). With a three-pointer against the SGE, Wolfsburg would move up to two points from the opponent from Main. But Frankfurt reacted promptly: Randal Kolo Muani (22nd) and Evan N’Dicka (26th) turned the game around within a very short time.
