Curious Caterer Mysteries: What’s Next for the Beloved Hallmark Series?
Fans of the cozy mystery series, Curious Caterer, are eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the culinary crime saga. Based on the novels by Diane Mott Davidson, the hallmark Movies & Mysteries franchise has captivated audiences with its blend of delicious recipes and intriguing investigations. But what does the future hold for Goldy Schulz and her captivating world?
Nikki DeLoach, a key figure in the series, recently spoke about the future of the Curious Caterer movies. “So we’re going back and pulling a little bit of that back into the show, while also delivering in both six and seven, which are two different worlds,” she shared while promoting her new Christmas movie, Our Holiday Story. This suggests a blend of familiar elements and new directions for the upcoming installments.
While DeLoach,a writer and executive producer on other Hallmark projects, didn’t write the scripts for the next two films, she expressed her strong desire to be involved. “Believe me, I’ve put it out there very loud and proud,” she stated. “I know these characters, all of them, better than anyone. I’ve spent so much time with them, and have bibles created for each character in terms of what their wants, needs and motivations are and what their misguided wants are. when you’re writing, it’s so critically important to know these things about all the characters you’re creating. So it’s been put on the table. We’ll see.It would be great to be able to write at least one of them.” Her passion for the characters is evident.
Co-star,and presumably,a fellow enthusiast, shared his confidence in DeLoach’s future contributions. “Nikki is a powerhouse,” he commented. “She approaches it like a producer, but she’s going to be a director at one point. Nikki will direct these movies. And she’s a writer, so she comes at it from a writer’s mind as well. She’s constantly shifting things and elevating the material as we go along.” this speaks volumes about the collaborative spirit and high quality of the production.
DeLoach also offered insight into the challenges of producing the films. “The thing we come up against with our movies is, logistically, we have to do them within a certain budget,” she explained. “So canadian writers offer, especially if we’re shooting in Vancouver, a tax incentive that’s really hard to pass up when you’re making movies on a pretty tight budget. And that’s something I deeply understand as a producer. Mysteries cost even more to make, so we have to be super mindful of our budget so we can continue to make these movies.” This highlights the financial considerations that influence creative decisions.
For those eager to catch up or revisit the delicious mysteries, the Curious Caterer movies are currently streaming on Hallmark Plus.
