Police found beehives full of drugs in a Plovdiv village.
They contained more than 1.5kg of marijuana and a small amount of cocaine, Maritza reported.
The police came to the find after catching a man from Stara Zagora with cocaine in Plovdiv. Then a search of the addresses he lives in, one of which was to his parents in a Plovdiv village. Cocaine was found in his apartment in Plovdiv and marijuana in his parents’ house. The goods were hidden in his father’s beehives and weighed 1.5 kg. In addition to grass, uniformed officers found scales and distribution bags.
He was immediately arrested and charged by the prosecutor’s office. The man is facing trial, and his magistrates are determining the most severe measure “detention in custody”.
According to his defense, which insisted on house arrest, there was not enough evidence to impose the most severe measure. It is also alleged that he does not live with his parents, but only visits them from time to time. According to a lawyer, this does not automatically mean that the product is his.
It is pointed out that there is a minor child who needs to be taken care of, as well as that he is in poor health. The detainee pointed out that the marijuana was for medical purposes – to be used by his father, if necessary. In any case, the court did not give credence to his explanations and left him in custody permanently.
