Mars Reconnaissance Explorer (MRO), orbiting the space agency Red Planet, recorded bird’s-eye views of Curiosity as it climbed the 5.5-kilometer-high Mont Mercou (Sarp Mountain).
Independent in Turkish Striking images were taken on April 18 with the High Definition Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on the orbit vehicle, he reported.
At the time the image was recorded, the orbital vehicle was 269 kilometers above Curiosity’s location.
This allowed the stunning slopes of Mars to be reflected on the camera in all its glory.
In the statement of the camera team, which was served with the images, the following information about Curiosity was included:
“The spacecraft is the size of a small car and examines exposed rocks near a cliff about 6 meters high.”
Curiosity landed inside the 154-kilometer Gale Crater in August 2012. The goal of this trip was to determine whether the area is suitable for microbial life.
Observations of the spacecraft revealed that Gale has hosted a potentially habitable system of lakes and streams for long periods in the past.
Following these observations, Curiosity reached the foot of Mont Mercou, which rises from the center of Gale, in September 2014.
Since then, the Mars rover has been climbing the mountain in question and studying layered rock deposits.
With these investigations, scientists aim to find clues as to how Mars transformed from a relatively hot and wet planet a long time ago to today’s cold desert planet.
