Curfew lifted in Washington Square Park

The curfew in Washington Square Park has been lifted and its original hours are restored, keeping it open until midnight.

The Police and Parks departments limited entry to the park until 10 p.m. on late weekends to put an end to what they called reckless behavior.

Mayor de Blasio assured that it was a necessary adjustment but that it was never the intention to make it a permanent measure.

People in the park threw objects at the officers, who used their equipment to manage riots.

Some even recorded how they pushed park visitors using bicycles.
