Curfew in Santa Pola | Radio Elche

The high Court of Justice has endorsed the request of curfew of the Valencian government for 77 localities of the Community with more than 30,000 inhabitants, among which is Santa Pola. The municipality is in a situation of “extreme risk” due to the spread of the Coronavirus with the cumulative incidence of 375 cases per 100,000 inhabitants .. Alicante will also have a curfew, which is why Tabarca is included. It also includes limiting meetings in the public or private sphere to 10 people and the capacity for shows, sports events and swimming pools is reduced.

The measure goes into effect on Monday and will mean limit mobility from one to six in the morning in a municipality that quadruples its population in summer with a type of residential tourism coming from Madrid and the Basque Country but, above all, from Elche. In this case, the Generalitat does not contemplate applying the curfew in Elche, for the moment, despite the fact that the municipality is at “risk” with the cumulative incidence rate close to 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

This difference in restrictions between the two municipalities may cause temporary residents of Santa Pola, especially young people, to return to Elche at night to enjoy without a curfew, although the nightlife continues closed.

In this sense, the admissions in the health departments have increased slightly in recent days with 14 mild admitted to the ward and three people in ICU in the public hospitals of the Baix Vinalopó region.
