Cure Diabetes Without Drugs, Here’s a Simple Way You Can Do

HerStory, Jakarta —

Diabetes Type 2 is a chronic condition that affects 422 million people worldwide. For decades, doctors have treated him with drugs designed to keep blood sugar levels in check. But did you know that diabetes can be cured in simple ways, such as losing weight?

This is stated in a paper published in the Lancet. Researchers in the UK described an important study in which people with diabetes can be cured only by losing weight.

The researchers looked at nearly half of the people involved in the study. The researchers provided a diet plan for approximately six months and the participants lost an average of 30 pounds. The results of this study showed that the study participants who experienced weight loss were no longer suffering from diabetes. The participants did not take any medication during the time of the study to control diabetes and relied solely on a weight loss program.

Diabetes
Type 2 is caused by an impaired ability of the body to break down sugar from food. Normally, cells in the pancreas work to release insulin, a hormone that can process sugar and send it to cells that need it for energy or store it as fat for future energy needs.

The cells in the liver are responsible for clearing insulin from the circulation. But excess fat in the pancreas and liver can begin to shut down these insulin-producing cells, leading to spikes in blood sugar levels.

“People newly diagnosed with diabetes for the first time can see the potential for weight loss to cure diabetes, and know it (diabetes doesn’t last forever,” said Dr Roy Taylor, professor of medicine and metabolism at Newcastle University.

Previous studies have shown that lifestyle changes, including diet and exercise, can be a powerful way to lose weight and combat obesity diabetes. The Diabetes Prevention Program in the US revealed in 2002 that diet and exercise alone can prevent people from progressing from pre-diabetes to diabetes, in some cases better than drugs designed to control blood sugar.

Taylor emphasized that the study only looked at people who had been diagnosed with diabetes relatively recently in the last six years. he also said that the effect may not hold true for long-term diabetic patients. That’s because as the disease progresses, the insulin-producing cells begin to die. Initially, the cells slowly die, entering a resting state. These are the cells that can be reactivated by weight loss.
