On Thursday, the Syrian Football Association announced the appointment of Argentine veteran Hector Cuper as coach of the national team.
The Syrian Federation stated on its Facebook account that Cooper, 67, will arrive in Syria in the coming days with his assistant crew, without clarifying further details. Cuper led Valencia to the Champions League final twice in a row more than 20 years ago.
He also coached Inter Milan and Parma in the Italian First Division and led the Egyptian national team to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
His last stop was with the Democratic Republic of the Congo national team.
